Atlantic Canada's Largest Parade, and a feature event of Old Home Week
Come celebrate the prestigious Gold Cup Parade, the largest street parade in eastern Canada! This year's theme is Bringing the Farm to the City and will feature some of the biggest stars in family entertainment.
Start time is 10:00 AM!
The Gold Cup and Saucer Race (1960) and The Gold Cup Parade (1962) were founded by Frank Acorn and Bill Hancox with the purpose of reviving Old Home Week, focusing attention on PEI's harness racing industry, and providing exciting entertainment for both Islanders and summer visitors. The Parade has been every year since that time and has become the feature event of summer season on the Island!
Every year, hundreds of entries wind their way through downtown featuring to the delight of children of all ages. The Parade features marching bands, floats, antique cars, giant balloons, clowns, and horses - there is something for everyone!
Entering a float in the Gold Cup & Saucer parade is an ideal way to promote your business or organization to over 50,000 spectators along with television viewers across Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. We welcome quality entries in the categories of float, car, horse, and band. Please take a few moments to fill out an application form in the appropriate category and be part of and Island Tradition!
