(Charlottetown, PE) – Details of the 55th annual Gold Cup Parade were announced at a news conference at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino this morning. The Gold Cup parade will be help on Friday, August 19th, beginning at 10 AM.
The 2016 Gold Cup Parade theme is “Everything PEI”. All float entries should try to incorporate the theme into the design of their floats. Parade Chair, Ray Murphy hopes we will see an increase in the number of float entries this year. “The Gold Cup Parade will only happen with the support of the corporate and volunteer communities. This year’s theme is intended to be very easy for businesses and community organizations to work with. PEI has so much to offer; everything from Anne of Green Gables to our world famous seafood, we look forward to seeing a showcase of Prince Edward Island parade through the streets of Charlottetown.”
The 2016 Gold Cup Parade will also offer our younger spectators some of the best in children’s entertainment including Little Charmers, Paw Patrol, Thomas & Friends as well as the Next Step Dancers. They will all be featured in the Gold Cup Parade, with Thomas & Friends continuing to the Old Home Week Exhibition Grounds for a complimentary show. This year’s entertainment is proudly sponsored by Maritime Electric.
Applications for Parade entries, volunteers and other information about the Parade can be found online at www.goldcupparade.ca. The deadline for parade entries is August 1st.
